Rather, a half a day in the life. We begin at about 2 or 3pm. No worries, you're only missing the morning of taking Dave to work, breakfast, some stuff around the house, exercise at the Y, lunch, shower and whatever else.
We got ourselves a membership to this here Houston Zoo. So far, so good. Even though this particular trip/day was a few weeks back, it's got to go up. For Miles. He calls the blog, "My Pictures." He loves seeing whatever we did on the blog.
We are trying to go to the zoo as often as possible before it gets wretchedly hot. The weather has been lovely, so it's been great! We started this zoo trip off with a picnic:
Making the plan:

The giraffe in the back is eating/moistening the mane of his buddy. Or mom. Or dad. I thought that was interesting.
Heads up: there are a million pictures of Miles. He wanted me to take his picture everywhere we went and wanted me to take pictures of everything else in sight. Some of the pictures are up because I like them and some of them are up just especially for Mister Miles.

Why, what a beard you have, sir. And quite lovely antlers. Or are they horns?
This is what I got when Miles said, "Mom, take a picture of my bum."
That is totally Miles' people watching face.
We stumbled on these drums. Oh my goodness, Miles was in heaven and would have stayed all day.

Don't really know what the huts were for...
But here's Miles "roasting a marshmallow":
These next pictures kill me. I had to include all three.
My buddy.
Anteater. So very funky looking.

Here Miles is instructing me to hold my camera "like this."
Just for you, pal.
I love the elephants.

He asked me to check his nostrils for boogers.
Horns.
This one is for Miles.
I have about a million pictures of Miles dancing around the zoo on this day, but this one is, by far, my favorite.
I really do enjoy all the year-round blooms here.
This next series of pictures is priceless to me:
What a goober.
Birds. The Houston Zoo has the coolest, weirdest birds I've ever seen. Like this guy who is all mean and scary looking from the front and then old-man-horse-shoe-balding-hunched-over from the back. No?

The big bird piggy bank. Gone make us go broke.

Waiting for Dave to come out of work:

A trip to our favorite grocery store that is closing. It's way overpriced and we just go look at their specialty food items and visit the See's counter for a free sample... not anymore. How sad.
All that produce, so neatly and nicely stacked....

Goodbye Rice.
There ya have it-- a half a day in the life. Mas o menos. Adios.
