The Best Name a Writer Ever Wrote

This is the show from whence I heard the name.

The name-- the best name a writer ever wrote-- is:

Bob Loblaw.

HA HA HA!

Every time I think about it I say it out loud over and over and laugh and laugh. So funny! That's all.

Miles

My kid is getting old. I've been a little overwhelmed by it lately. The way he is talking, the faces he is making... he's just been seeming so big to me lately. But small at the same time. I've always been amazed at how the previous "baby" of a family all of a sudden looks ginormous when they have a new baby sibling enter the picture. Without having experienced that myself, Miles is still small to me, in lots of ways. He's my one and only little boy. I don't have a baby to compare sizes with or occupy some of (or likely most of) my attention. It's just Miles. My adorable little buddy. I've seen him grow every day of his life so he's my big, but little boy.

I recently stumbled upon this extremely urgent feeling to make my home a place with a spirit of love. I feel like we've provided Miles with a happy home and stable (minus moving 9 times) environment, but I'm just feeling different about it these days. Like I said, it's a much more urgent feeling-- like Miles' life depends on it. Because... it does. At this point, almost anything and everything Miles learns or has learned will be from me and Dave-- good or bad. So there's lots of things I want to work on. It's good to have things to work on.

We had a family talk/pow wow about how we are all going to really try to always be loving to each other and be nice/say nice things/talk nicely, etc etc and I told Miles we were going to practice saying nice things to each other. Dave and I took turns and on Miles' turn he turned to me and said, "You're a great mom!" It was the best and made me feel like a million bucks. I sure am grateful for this kid. He's such a happy, reasonable (most of the time), kind little boy. A pleasure.

Here's another slew of pictures from my parents' house of Miles "washing" dishes. Talk about sheer joy. I love these pictures. They're just so Miles. I did his hair half way through because he's undeniably cuter with his hair done. Enjoy.

Upchuck

We've started the new year with a lot of sickness around here. I had a mild, but energizer bunny long flu for about 6 days from New Year's Eve on. I thought Miles and Dave made it out alive and well, but Miles got sick on Tuesday and isn't 100% better and Dave currently has it bad. So don't come over. Here is a video of Miles after he threw up. Kids are unbelievable...

Hey Grandma & Papa Lawson!

While it's true that Miles is a sucker for his Grandma Sally, the full truth is that he truly, madly and deeply loves all his Grandmas and Grandpas. There's a lot of true, truth and truly in that sentence, so I must really mean it. The Grandmas and Grandpas are all such special people to Miles. As you likely know, Dave's parents are on a mission in Argentina and Miles is always asking to "talk to Grandma Papa on the computer." Even though they are very far away, they are still so generous and sent us some Christmas money. We found this pretty cool "Auto City" thing for Miles to spend their money on. So, Grandma and Papa, this is what you got for Miles and this is how much he loves it! Thank you so much!

Christmas Number Two

Christmas number two was the real deal-- the very day of December 25th. Miles came right up to the room we were sleeping in and got in bed with us with the iPad and the Charlie Brown Christmas book app. He totally didn't know to go look for toys and presents first thing.
Happy as a peach and ready to stay in bed all day.

We took him out to check it out... looks like Christmas to me!

This picture kills me... so adorable.

The cash register was a huge hit and by far Miles' favorite gift of the day.

That night we went to my sister's house for dinner. Miles had fallen asleep in the car on the way. The few times he falls asleep in the car, he usually wakes up pretty grouchy and takes a while to get to the point of socializing, etc. Anyway, after I hit his head on the car door getting him out, we went inside and his boy cousins who are all 1 year older came over to greet us. I asked them what they got for Christmas and they told me about their batman stuff and xbox games, etc. When they asked what Miles got for Christmas he wasn't quite ready to talk about it so I listed a few things... "like some airplanes, star wars guys, and a cash register with money and credit cards..." at which point Miles piped up and said very animatedly: "And a pink thing for when I go shopping!" ???? Haha! It was so funny to me and I have no idea what he was talking about. Nothing in his cash register stuff is pink. Hilarious nonetheless.

My sweet little innocent pink-thing-for-shopping boy.

I wrapped up a sweater vest for Miles and let me tell you, he did not want it. He kept saying, "I don't like it. I don't want it." and gave it to my dad saying, "Here you go." Funny kids.

Proof I was alive on this trip, but no proof of Dave. What's up with that? Anyway, we had a very Merry Christmas!
