A Chick is Born

The Houston Rodeo is a big to do 'round these parts.  We were unable to get tickets to actual Rodeo, but we still hit up the fair/carnival.

I'm really not an animal lover, so walking around huge buildings with a ton of animals in pens isn't all that exciting for me.  However, watching these chicks hatch was fascinating!  You should have been there.

Aside from watching the chicks hatch, we saw some pig races, mutton bustin', did some pretend farm workin' and went in a super crowded, gross petting zoo with aggressive animals and deer who were eating everyone's clothes.  We also saw the most amount of people in cowboy hats/boots/belt buckles in any one place ever.  YEE HAW!

(That's so Miles to "pet" with one finger.)

Mom & Pops & NASA

Dave's parents got off their mission back in February!  They didn't waste any time and started driving all over this fine country of ours.  We were glad to have them stop in Houston for a visit.
Miles was in heaven.  He just soaked up all that attention like a sponge.  He loves all his grandparents.

My and Dave's hands were off limits.  Grandma or Grandpa only.

We went to NASA.  I'm sorry to say, I can't tell you to put the Houston Space Center on your bucket list.  Somewhere between expecting to be blown away by Space (warranted) and what you actually get at the Houston Space Center, it just didn't deliver.
 Here's a rocket, though.

This part was the coolest by far.  This thing is ENORMOUS.

That white rectangle at the bottom left of this picture is a door, to give a slight perspective on how massive this thing was.

Ladies and Gentlemen, your future astronaut:

Miles quite enjoyed the whole experience as there were games and other hands on things for him to check out.

Mom & Pops visiting: fantastic.

NASA: mediocre at best.

The Monkey on my Back

I'm a finisher.  It's a good thing and a bad thing.  Right now, it's a bad thing because it's compelling me to put these pictures of the zoo up here.  But you know what?  We are all just going to have to deal with me right now.

It was cool to watch the elephants mess around:

 Buh bye monkey!
