Nickname: Lard O Lakes
You know, like Land O Lakes? Well, Miles is 5 months nowadays. He weighed 19 lbs at his Dr appointment on the 9th, hence "Lard O Lakes," among other nicknames. He is so heavy to lug around because he doesn't hold any of his own weight besides his head. It's like lugging around a 20 lb sack of potatoes.Monday, December 8, 2008
What a Babe
I LOVE my child. Thus far in his life, I have been rocking him to sleep. I used to worry that this would spoil him and he'd never go to sleep without being rocked and blah blah blah. I've always justified rocking him by saying things like, "He'll never be this little again" and "I'll never have just one baby again or this much time." Besides, I really don't mind rocking him and spending that time with him... except at night when I'm tired.
Lucky for me, this isn't much of a problem because he usually falls asleep while nursing and I just put him in his bed asleep and walk out. Tonight, however, he thought it would be fun to load his diaper right after he finished nursing. Hence, the required diaper change woke him up. And, as there always is the risk of getting pooped on when changing diapers, I got lucky tonight. Just as I was wiping his butt he shot out a juicy fart on my hand. Seriously, it wasn't much poop, but it shot out of his little butt like a sling shot. Anyway, I sat back down with him and commenced with our rocking, but he was kind of fussing and kicking, etc. So, here comes the great part:
I put him in his bed, wrapped him in his blankets, and walked away. And here comes the greater part:
He went to sleep within 5 minutes without a peep.
I LOVE my child.

125,152 Reasons We Love Miles
1. He is the best baby of all time. Seriously, you have no idea.
25,312. He gives the best kisses. When you put your cheek on his, he turns his head and puts his little open mouth on your cheek. If he's really loving you, he'll give you a little suckle. It is the cutest (slobber takes on a whole new meaning when it's from your own baby).
67,899. He has the cutest little smile with little dimples and it lights up his whole face.
95,459. He sleeps like a champion. 9-7:30 or 8:00.
110,002. His cheeks are irresistible.
125,152. His naked body would put Marilyn Monroe's to shame.

Just getting him ready for winter. For the record, Miles chose this hat. It was the only hat he didn't scream about when I put it on.
For a few days he was sticking his tongue out all the time...
Hello Jabba
We put him in this little number and he loves it. Thanks, Ro for the hand me down. Works like a charm!

Beautiful, isn't it?

Chicken Nuggets
A: I need to take a shower.
E: Why?
A: Because I'm dirty and I stink.
E: You don't stink. You smell good. You smell like chicken nuggets! Chicken nugget stars!

Halloweenie
I know Halloween was days ago, but I'm just getting around to getting some pictures on here. Miles was a hot dog, hence "Halloweenie." Ha. Ha. Ha.
Here he is with his "Indiana Jones" father:

If you can't tell that Dave and I were last-minute-throw-it-together "costumes," it gets better. See me here, attempting to be "ketchup" to go with my little hot dog, but I may have looked more like "little red riding-hood." Or a girl in red. I'll let you decide.
And here we are together with our smashing costumes. Miles is by far the best with his face smashed. Doesn't he look so uncomfortable?
Since my costume, or lack there of, was so lame, my sister in law made me into a witch so I could pass out candy at her house. It was loads of fun. LOADS.
And here are the Pimp Daddy and Pimp Mama:
My brothers and their wives and kids were totally decked out... I'm glad someone likes Halloween.

John- I'm glad you had the guts to show all of Coeur d'Alene your beautiful hairy chest and hard nipples.
In other news... actually, there is no other news. No funny stories, nothing exciting. Sorry. Here are some more pictures of the little guy.

Boobies
Well, it's been a while, and everything has changed. Here are some pictures.
See below, we are definitely not in Texas anymore. This is our new scenery:

And our new roommate:
And our other new roommate:

That's right folks... embarrassing though it may be, we are living with my parents in Coeur d'Alene, ID. Turns out Texas was too expensive and the paycheck too small. Dave has decided to go to law school next fall, so he is looking for a job now, and we plan to save as much money as possible until he starts law school. Thanks, mom and dad for bailing us out.
In other news, Miles is just as cute as ever. Please appreciate his boobies.

The little munchkin has started sucking his thumb. It's darn cute, and I'm sure Miles will love braces later.

We have a good video of him laughing but the internet isn't quick enough to upload it right now. Maybe in a week or two.

Be Prepared
Well, it was Dave's 25th birthday on September 25th. We had quite the party! He got super surprised with tickets to a Dallas Stars hockey game. Lucky for us, they were playing our team, the Colorado Avalanche. If you don't know Dave and I too well, you don't understand that we love hockey and the Avs and it was his best birthday ever. We were so excited to go to the game! Dave called in sick to work and we went to downtown Dallas to eat one of Dave's favorite foods: a gigantic hamburger. The joint we went to is called the Twisted Root and it was really yummy. They make everything from scratch there-- mustard, ketchup, BBQ sauce, ice cream & root beer! Now that was a deliciously overpriced root beer float! Anyhow, here are a couple pictures from the ristorante:

It was a great day-- the Avs won, Miles had a nice blowout at a visitors center and got to show all the nice old ladys all this goods, and we ate good food. What more could a birthday boy ask for? Here is Miles at said visitors center showing some goods, but not all. Sorry.

Now, as I was saying: Be Prepared. Turns out I love hockey. Love hockey as in, I watch all the games, I have a boyfriend on the team... I love hockey. So, I was just as excited as Dave to go to the game. Well, I must have forgotten for a brief moment that I am now a mother. I spent about half the game walking around with Miles and the WHOLE game fretting that he was going to go deaf because of the noise! I gave my arms a good work out by trying to cover his ears any time there was something super loud. Come to find out, it was all in vain. I talked to some drunk pediatric nurse one of the times I was walking around and she told me that Miles would be fine, would not lose his hearing and to go enjoy the game. Go figure.
So, to all those not-yet-mothers out there, again, be prepared. You have NO idea how drastically your life is going to change. Good luck to you all.
Here are some more pictures and a video. Enjoy!
