Field Trip

I got to go chaperone a field trip with Miles.  We went somewhere in Texas.  It was some ranch that had a bunch of stuff for kids to do.  Go figure!

Best blank stare ever, on the right.

This is the group of 3 wild boys + Miles that I got to be in charge of.  They literally ran everywhere, were super hard to keep track of and I was like, "Oh wow!  This is SO FUN!"

On this field trip, I was kind of bummed out seeing how sweet and innocent my little boy is and how he is out in the big, bad world now.  Case in point, the picture above.  His buddy, CJ, is waaaaaaay too cool for this little train ride and Miles is totally pleased.

Showing that snow cone who is boss.

The little girl with the white hat that Miles is looking at is the girl he thinks is cute.

Wahoo!

Skate

Miles got to do some roller skating at school.  When I first got the permission slip I was kind of like, "Uhhhhh.... this is like signing a permission slip for my kid to break his arm."  Glad I bit the bullet and did it, though.  It was both harmless and hilarious.  And although Miles is not the most coordinated child in America, he's probably the most cautious so it all evens out just fine.  I guess.

Here's a few pictures and a video:

The Good ol Days

Sometimes people ask me how I'm doing with Miles being in school now.  The answer: totally fine.  That usually makes people laugh for some reason.  I don't know why.  Then they ask what I do with all that time and I say, "Duh-- nothing."  Just kidding.  But I should say that, just for fun.

I will say, I miss being able to do stuff with Miles.  He's in school until 3pm and with a 7-7:30 bedtime, homework, a reading lesson, dinner and picking up Dave and whatever else, that doesn't leave us much time to go play together.

I miss having adventures with him.  It's all business now and that's sad.

The weather had sort of cooled off for one of the first times a couple weeks ago and I couldn't stand to let it go to waste.  You know how after a long winter, it starts to get nice outside and you can't wait to go out and enjoy it?  That's the feeling I get here when it starts to cool off.  So, even though it wasn't that cool and I still broke a little sweat, I took Miles to the zoo after school.  It reminded me of the good ol days with my buddy.

Here's some pics.

I was really digging the way the sunshine was making the plants glow.  These pictures are all with the point and shoot!  Best little point and shoot ever!

Miles: best little boy ever.

Life.  It just marches on!

Taking What We Can Get

Sometimes we just have to get out of Houston.  One Saturday, we were so desperate, we just went up to The Woodlands.  It's so much nicer and prettier up there.

We stumbled on this little lake and decided to go for a walk.

 A red leaf!
We also saw some turtles and a raccoon.  And went to a shopping center and got poured on by rain.

Gotta take what you can get!

By the way, all these pictures were taken with the point and shoot.

90

My Grandma turned 90 the end of September and I got to head to the NW for her birthday party.  It was great to see most of my family!

Something I'm Proud of

I got to shoot another birth last month.  My third rodeo.  I'm telling you, it is the coolest thing in the world!  I really, really, REALLY enjoy doing it.  I'm especially proud of the job I did with this one, and just wanted to share, but not enough to spend the time and effort putting a whole post up.  If you want to share in my moment of pride, click here.
