Miles the Stripper

Apparently, Miles rarely sleeps in his pajamas. I put him to bed in his pajamas, but he always takes them off. He must get hot or something in our 80 billion degree apartment. Speaking of which, he doesn't mind the cold-- I can tell. He never complains about it being cold outside or in the car and it is definitely cold in both of those locations. Yesterday was a heat wave (20's) so I took Miles out to play in the snow. He didn't want to come in of course, even though he had snow jammed down his coat sleeves freezing his little forearms/wrists.

Anyway, back to the point: Miles strips. One morning I asked him to show me how he takes off his pajamas and I thought it was real funny. You may not think it's funny because he's not your kid, but this is my blog, so I win. So here is a video of Miles stripping especially for you. Enjoy.

Miles' outfits

This is what yesterday looked like:

This is what today looked like:

Yesterday, Miles decided he wanted to wear underwear and underwear only. And light blue socks and a nicer red striped long sleeved polo shirt, of course. He was a super big whiner all that morning and being difficult about everything. He wouldn't eat breakfast, he wouldn't get in the tub, he wouldn't get out of the tub and on and on and on. The last battle we had was the diaper v. underwear. I gave Miles the spiel: if you wear underwear that means you have to go pee in the toilet all day long... blah blah blah.

Potty training has been on my todo list, but I was in no way mentally prepared or committed to starting that day, and my non-existent patience (no doubt one of my greatest follies) was already ultra thin. So when he went for the underwear, I was like, "Seriously? Today? Why today?"

I may have been lacking the patience I was sure I was going to need, but Miles sure bridged the gap. The kid had no accidents all day long! I think he's totally digging the big boy thing, the underwear and all the praise. And I'm totally digging the realization that I do have some patience in this body of mine. I guess I just never focused on it like I have been these last 2 days.... what a find!

Today was equally successful and I'm so proud of Miles. He hasn't pooped, though. Not in the toilet, not in his underwear, not in his diaper last night or this morning. Sooooo... yeah. And I've been keeping him up from naps because I have no earthly idea how to train a kid to not pee in their sleep. Speak to me. Any and all advice/tricks welcome and requested.

Somebody Likes Hockey

Well, really we all like hockey. The Avs were in town so we went to the game on Friday. All I can say, is Wild fans are boooooooooooring. Some dude was actually sleeping behind me. Granted the Wild didn't play all that well and lost... Whatever, I still expect all these nearly Canadian Minnesotans to be more into it. Anyway, that afternoon/evening when we were getting ready to leave and Miles saw Dave's jersey he got all excited saying, "Hockey shirt! It's red. It's blue. It's white. It's grey." Dave asked him what letter it was (the Avalanche logo is the letter A) and Miles said, "it's hockey letter!" Anyway, the kid recognizes hockey from a mile or logo away. So proud.

The last of it

The last Christmas-y thing we did before I took the decorations down last Friday was this gingerbread man. To say Miles loved it would be and understatement. He's wanted to make a gingerbread man many times since we did it. So here's to the memory.

Remembered.

The Christmas Load of Pictures

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! It may be practically half way through January to you, but we are definitely still sporting Christmas around here. The new year didn't feel much like the usual refresher. You know, where you get all motivated and resolve to do and be better.... We were all sick around here and that put quite the damper on things. Dave had gnarly pink eye and ear infections and he's deaf and on and on. Miles and I didn't have it near as bad as he did, but all I can tell you is we were all feeling pretty crappy around here and my Christmas decorations are still up, my resolve is suffering from lack of commitment/motivation and my furniture is dusty. I need a redo on the new year. Until then, here's Christmas and Christmas Eve and some other stuff from our trip out to Coeur d'Alene.

First of all, it was a great break from Miles. He loves playing at my Mom and Dad's house and thoroughly enjoyed playing with all his cousins. So I hardly had to watch him. It was great.

Christmas Eve:

Sorry, I couldn't pick just one (or four) of my niece London.

Muah.

O Christmas tree...

Alex.

Mom.

A little quality time.

The Shepherds-- Nathan and Ayden.

Too cute.

Christmas morning:
Miles was pretty antsy to go find his stocking and stuff, but he was patient.

It was a good and calm Christmas morning. When Miles saw his stocking and the coloring book and crayons that was by it he was totally like, "Color?" He was already completely satisfied like, "Great! That was cool! Let's color!" One present he opened and when he got to the box he said, "Box!" and thought that was it. Funny. Then I found out from my Grandma that Miles had been up ALL STINKIN NIGHT LONG and keeping her up by opening and closing her door and being a total turd. I was totally devastated. When I went downstairs to where Miles was sleeping the room was a disaster with toys all over the place. That's right, Miles pulled and all-nighter on Christmas Eve, kept my Grandma up whilst I slept like a baby. Horrible. I put him down for a nap right after breakfast. No wonder his hair wasn't really messed up... I still can't believe he did that.

Playing in the Snow:
So cute in those overalls.

I don't know how long we spent trying to help Miles get his thumb in the thumb hole of his mitten. But apparently we are all retarded and we gave up. He didn't care. At least the other hand was good to go and it was kind of funny. We laughed.

Catch.

Miles loved playing in the snow. He thought it was the coolest thing ever. Dave would tackle him down and throw snow on him and Miles just loved it.

Destroy.

Dave getting to be a dad instead of a working student.

Beautiful Coeur d'Alene.

Great time had by all.

And lastly, we were going to go see some bald eagles, but one came to us.
Bald eagle standing on the ice.

Bald eagle standing on the ice.

Bald eagle flying off the ice.

Bald eagle flying in the air. And that's how you do great commentary.
