Sayonara Outhouse

Today was a beautiful day 'round here, and since summer has officially begun in the Lawson house, we went out and did something. We planned on good ol' Tubbs Hill, but warm weather and summer time is like a real breath of fresh air around here. People come out like they've been stuck in an outhouse for 9 months, dying to get out. So, the parking lot was full and there was a big long line and we said "boooo" and went to Mineral Ridge instead. Great choice.
Couldn't have been a better day for it.

This was our first time hiking Mineral Ridge and Miles' first time in one of those cool carry-the-kid things.

It was real pretty.

Miles totally digging the carry-the-kid thing...

...totally.

Just showing off my whiteness-- of both my shirt and my skin-- all two hues.

Not a single picture I took does the view at the top justice.

DAM

We ran into my parents which was a real treat and Miles immediately needed to hold Grandma's hand. Most of the time, any time I tell Miles we are going to go bye bye he asks, "Mawmow (Grandma)?"

Great time had by all-- great to be out of the outhouse.

Summer

Today is a great and special day. Today, Dave said sayonara to his first year of school and work at WSU's MHPA program. He finished his semester a week and a half ago, but he's still been dragging his butt to work everyday. But not tomorrow.... not ever again until school starts up! Now he just has to drag his butt to his internship at a hospital around here, which he is much more excited about.

Ah, freedom.

So happy. Let the summer begin.

Speaking of summer, since it's been warmer, Miles wants to be outside all the time. He just opens and closes our sliding door-- over and over and over. Then when I tell him it's time to come in he runs away from me and climbs up on one of our chairs and sits back and relaxes like it's such a treat.

Our lease is up, and to keep up with the DAM way, we'll be moving again! This will make 6 times in not quite 5 years, and 4 times in 2 years. It's so much fun, I can't even stand it.

I will miss our view:
Life goes on.

Mothers

Here are some of the mothers in my family.

We got together for a little Mother's Day tea party.

Complete with herbal tea...

...beautiful flowers...

...delicious little sandwiches...

...plump, juicy fruit...

...and the most delicious scones I've ever eaten. And a salad. And a piece of pie. Mmm mm good. Thanks, Mom, for such a treat. You are the best mom in the world.

Here are some of the little and big ones we mother:

A late Happy Mother's Day to all the great mothers in my life.

I hope a little will go a long way

Once upon a time, I lived in another land and ate crepes with nutella, bagettes, and pastries all day every day and gained probably 15-20 pounds. I also met a really cool girl named Chelsea Lockhart, and we became great friends and had loads of fun together. Without her, I literally would not have survived, and might have learned a bit of the language instead of relying on her to speak and translate for me. I was 18 and stupid, what can I say?

Anyway, I learned recently that her brother and his wife are hoping to adopt a baby. My heart goes out to anyone who struggles with infertility. Josh and Julie just kept bouncing around in my head, so I came up with a solution. Since I can't give them a baby, and I most definitely won't give them Miles, I thought I'd help spread the word.
This is their button. I'm putting it on our blog. I don't know how much it will help them, but I hope it does.

You can help too. You've been there-- one way or another-- even if it's the opposite direction. If you haven't experienced infertility, you know the great joy of being blessed with a child of your own, and I know you can imagine the pain of the flip-side.

I don't know how many millions of couples are trying to adopt a baby... I only know that Josh and Julie are, and I want to help them get the word out. So, if you feel like helping in a small way, put their button on your blog too. Go here for the information.

Good luck, Josh and Julie. I hope you get a baby soon.

The sun has set

I don't see many sunsets since we only have windows that face East. Saturday was a new day for new things. Miles and I got to spend the whole Saturday with Dave for the first time in many weeks and we stayed out until the sun set. It was so nice to be together and the sky gave us a show. Until next time we can spend a whole day together... here are some pictures to remember that we did.

It's about time

Miles has been needing a haircut for a while...
He was looking pretty straggly.

Done and done.
