Minneapolis

One great thing about where we live is the campus bus that we can take into Minneapolis for free. Dave, Miles, myself... the whole fam. Free. We went. For free. We'll go again. Yep, for free. Miles thinks the bus is the coolest thing ever and he's pretty annoying to ride with-- constantly wanting to switch seats or hold on to the rails or whatever.... looking for a seat belt saying "Uh oh, ga go?" over and over and over. But you can't beat free.

A small (very small) smidgen of the school. It's very large. Grande.

A little bit of Minneapolis for you.

A little bit of Minneapolis and Mississippi River for you.

Just Minneapolis for you-- no specific amount.

Dave and Ash for you.

Dave and Miles for you (after a poke in the eye from Miles).

I love this picture... even with all it's blurriness...

Dave and Miles for you.

A little nighttime Minneapolis for you.

A little preacher on a bridge for you.
I don't know why he chose that spot or that audience (oncoming traffic-- in cars), but at least he had a stool to stand on. My favorite part of his speech went something like this: (Hoarse yelling voice-- he had to yell real loud so the people driving under him could hear him in their cars) "It's not about going to a nice place after you die or being with your family... although those are good things..." followed by something or other; I can't remember. "Although those are good things..." haha. Good point. Too bad you weren't there.

It's all about the kids

We went to the Minnesota Children's Museum. For free, thank you very much. Hip hip hooray!

Miles thought it was the coolest thing ever. He would have stayed and played at any one spot for hours.
Here he is at the race-a-boat spot.

Open the hatch...

...and watch with delight.

This may be the best picture of Miles that I've taken lately. That face is priceless.

Bubbles!

Miles has just the right blow for bubbles.

I love the spit coming off his lips.

You can't tell me he doesn't look so cute in that apron. If you can, don't.

A whole lot of blah blah blah

So, have I mentioned that we love our apartment? Naw, it's fine, but every now and then it either makes you want to swear, laugh, or cry.

There is a serious shortage of outlets and the existing outlets are very temperamental. The one extra outlet we have unoccupied and available downstairs has to be plugged in just right, kind of at a defying gravity angle. News flash crappy outlet: you will never defy gravity and it's rude of you to expect me to. Anyway, Dave needs to get a paper written for his class tomorrow morning (my tomorrow morning-- Tuesday) and since the plug downstairs thinks it's too cool for the dying laptop, he has to use a plug upstairs in our bedroom. So, basically, if I want to go to bed any time soon (which I do) it's going to be under the glow of our fluorescent bedroom light and the lullaby of typing. So, I'm just trying to waste/use up some time. And my butt hurts from sitting in this chair at the computer for so long.

When the laptop still had some juice and Dave was getting his writing juices going (lots of juice around here) he was playing music, stupid youtube videos, etc. We had some Passion Pit, the song from Dumb & Dumber when Lloyd comes back for Harry on the scooter, and then out of nowhere I hear Hanson Brothers and I was like, "What the freak. Why are you playing Hanson?" He was doing it for my reaction, of course. No offense to any past or present Hanson lovers out there, but I proceeded to tell Dave how I genuinely didn't like them when they first came out, and I was so proud and felt so cool when I heard older kids making fun of them. Great story, right?

As a complete side note, I'd have to say the things I'm missing most so far while living in this apartment would be a garbage disposal and a washer and dryer. I'll get used to the whole no garbage disposal thing, but I think I'll always miss my washer and dryer. Also, I miss having a bathroom big enough that you could fit a scale in it. I know-- I'm spoiled rotten.

In fact, lookie here: pictures of the place we call home. The place is kind of messy, but it's late, I'm tired, and I don't care.

The Kitchen:

Our fridge even has handles!

Killer amount of counter space, and only one burn mark from a stove fire. I haven't tried a 9x13 in that big ol' oven yet, but I'm hopeful it will fit.

The spot for our table/computer desk/extra table for extra storage and/or counter space.

What you see when you turn around and take four steps back.

Up, up...

up the stairs...

Looking back down the stairs.

Master Suite. Work, work, work. I'm tired.

Tight squeeze. But seriously, what couple married for only 5 years has a king size bed? Right? Apparently I'm an animal in my sleep.

Miles is sound asleep behind the closed door.

There she is.

My bathroom. Are you thinking that there is room in there for a scale? Because there isn't. I stub my toe every freaking day on the stupid stool as it is. Swear, laugh, cry. Ghetto: it does the body good.

50,000 Pictures

And every single one is of Miles. It's just something you'll have to live with.

We have a play gym thing really close to our place. When I say really close, I mean really close. Miles thinks it's the greatest thing ever. As he should. When we first got here he wanted to play out there every second of every day and get eaten alive by mosquitoes. Any time we come back from an outing I have to explain to him before we get out of the car that we can't play right at that moment. Every time we leave he says, "Bye, slide!" So, it's good-- for however long the weather lasts around here.

Most of all, though, the kid loves the dirt.

Look at those grubby fingers...

dirt...

dirt...

dirt...

dirt...

dirt...

dirt...

dirt. It's the order of the day.

Since Miles could be content to play in the dirt for 1 million hours, the following promptly ensues when it's time to go inside:

Just like that.

It will be such a tease in the winter. I guess we'll just have to get some finger paint or something.

We're Famous!

Downtown St. Paul, MN. We feel real cool.
