Miles turned 5 way back when. July 14th. It was on a Sunday this year so I told him if there was any un-Sunday things he wanted to do to celebrate that we could do them on Saturday. He decided he wanted to have some friends over to swim. He was so cute and excited making a list of guests and deciding what food he wanted. He wanted to invite all his preschool friends plus one other little girl and her sister from our ward. The rest was all adults. Good 'ol Miles. He loves his adult friends.
His menu was as follows:
Pirate's Booty
Cheez-its
Oreos
Peanut butter and jam sandwiches
Some other kind of sandwich for his peanut allergy friend to eat (ever so thoughtful, that Miles)
Apple juice or Orange juice
I added grapes to the mix and just had cheese and baguettes for the other kind of sandwich slot.
We sang happy birthday to him at the pool and he was not having it because it wasn't his birthday. It was a totally different story on his birthday, though. He was very accepting, and even sang to himself.
Opening presents after church. After getting in his underwear first, of course.
He was super cute opening presents and very thankful and excited about everything he got.
That position is so Miles. He does that all the time.
His cousins sent him the most thoughtful gift of all time and Miles was so cute opening it. Since they had just spent time together in CO, they learned just how much Miles likes cars and how he knows all the different makes and lots of models. So they made him a little construction paper book with cars they had cut out of magazines and glued on and left him some empty pages and some cut out cars to glue on himself. He was stoked and spent the next many days flipping through our pile of magazines to find pages with cars to cut out. It was the best.
Singing to himself.
Check out that spit stream! Gross! Needless to say, I scraped off the top layer of the frosting.
He requested all the sprinkles we had in our house on his cake.

Shockingly (not) it was gross, and he didn't have any more of his birthday cake. He still had a great birthday, though, and we sure are glad we have him. Sometimes he annoys me to no end, but most of the time, I can't believe how great and special he is. We love you, Miles.
