The Bean

One of the last things we saw in Chicago was the bean.  It was way cooler than I thought it would be.  Definitely neato.  So here's the last slew of Chicago pictures.  Hooray.

That's all reflections.

Look at all those grubby fingerprints!

Loooong torso.

I like how Dave and Miles progressively shrink in their reflection in this next bunch of pics:

Hey, that's us... the little ol' DAM FAM.

So shiny and reflective, that bean!

And THAT, ladies and gents, is the end of the DAM FAM 2012 Chicago vacation.  Glad we had such great weather; would definitely go back!

Field

The Field Museum in Chicago is super cool.  I wish we would have gone there earlier before we were getting museumed out.  There was a lot to see.

Meet Sue.  She's the world's most complete T-Rex.  Some lady named Sue found the bones in the Badlands in South Dakota, so that's her name.  Hi Sue!

They showed a 3D movie here as well.  It was about Sue.  Miles did pretty good until the end when Sue roared really loud all up in your face at which time he did his brave-try-not-to-cry thing and said through his pucker-y chin and lip, watery eyes and quivery voice, "That was too loud."  Also, I think he was probably like, "WTF" when the dinosaurs were eating each other.... But I guess it's just one of those facts of life.  Dinosaurs ate each other.  So they say.

Elephants.

Pretty cool stuff!

Three

I feel like it was just a day or two ago that I was posting about our move being six weeks away.  Well folks, as of yesterday, it's now three weeks away.  That's getting pretty close.

Yesterday I was all full of "it feels so weird.  I thought I'd be jumping out of my skin at this time of life, i.e. graduation, real job, moving on, etc.  But I just feel weird.  I can't put my finger on it.  I don't know if it's just not close enough or if I still feel like we'll be transient or what...  etc, etc... blah blah blah."

Then... THEN... tonight I'm doing laundry.  And now I'm like, "YEP. READY TO GO."  I've had the best possible scenario with the whole no-washer/dryer-in-your-dwelling thing.  I don't have to go to a laundromat, and I'm as close to a laundry room as I could possibly be.  A very short walk.  So I load up two laundry baskets, haul them down the stairs, fumble with my infuriating door, and walk my butt (and my laundry baskets) to the laundry room.  I mean, it's not like I have to swim through acid to get to it so what could I really have to complain about?!  Seriously, it could be WAY worse.  BUT.  I do look forward to the day I have a few more amenities than I currently employ.  Which is now 3 weeks, minus one day.

By the way, I have no idea what to expect from Houston.  No idea.  I made a Costco run yesterday.  It was very sunshiney out and when I got back in my car after my shopping, my internal thermometer was like, "Hey Ash.  It's hot in here.  Turn on the A/C."  I obeyed.  Then I glanced at what the temperature was outside.  48.  Soooo... pretty sure I'm going to melt in Houston.  Bid me farewell.

Toothpaste

That's right.  You read it.  I'm posting about toothpaste.

We finally upgraded Miles to a big kid toothpaste whilst in Chicago.  We were out of toothpaste and some nice lady at the Walgreens opened up for us after they were closed so we could get some.  It took a little bit for Miles to get the hang of foamy toothpaste that he can't swallow and has to spit out, but we are over the hump.  And really, there is no point to this post.

To toothpaste!

Woo Woo

The day we went to Shedd was the only day Dave actually did anything related to his conference thingy.  I took Miles swimming (which he thoroughly enjoys), cleaned him up, came out of the bathroom and found him reading the paper in the buff.  Naturally.  Everybody's go to.

Then we snuggled up and watched a movie 'til ol' Dadio got back.

While it was great to go and do and see all the things we saw, I'm always so glad for those reading-the-paper-in-the-buff times.

Here's to reading the paper in the buff!

Moves

I'd like to interrupt all this Chicago mumbo jumbo.  I've mentioned before how Miles is so into music.  I'm sure you don't get it, though.  He's SO INTO MUSIC.  On any given day, he'd likely prefer to listen to our playlist on Spotify than play with any toy anywhere.  And you must know, if he's listening to his favorite songs, he's likely dancing.  Check it.  You won't regret it.

Puts 'N Sync to shame!

P.S. Don't mind how dirty that room is.  I guess now you know that Dave likes to take his pants off so he can bask in the comfort of his undies.  That and it's usually a million degrees in here and he gets hot.  Lastly, when that is about as big of an open space/common area you've got, it doesn't take much for it to look like something exploded.

Shedd

The aquarium in Chicago is awesome. And ginormous. So here's a ginormous slew of pictures.

This is where they do the shows. Super cool.

Lake Michigan out there.

Every museum we went to came with a 3D movie...

Jellies:

So big and fat.

That's a back fish...

DAM FAM

The building was super cool too:

We had to wear a wristband and Miles was RIDICULOUS about getting it on. I sort of just wanted to stick it to his face. Anyway, we did get it on and the above picture is his reaction when he got to take it off. Yippee!

The aquarium was definitely one of our favorite things we saw in Chicago.
